With just a few short weeks away to Disney’s bi-annual celebration, The D23 Expo, anticipation for Disney’s incredible event continues to build as Disney finally unveiled its finished and complete schedule for the three-day-event. To celebrate the event and to try to contain our excitement, we’re taking a look at seven things that we’re looking forward to from this event and what we hope to see from D23 Expo 2017.
New Inductees to the Disney Legend Ceremony:
Every D23 Expo sees new inductees to Disney Legend status. These are celebrities, artists, or employees who have made an influence on The Walt Disney Company, or have made the world a better place through their contributions to Disney films. While some inductees may raise some eyebrows (like the induction of Oprah Winfrey), the majority of these are truly worth celebrating, like Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Wayne Jackson (Imagineer), Julie Taymor (Theatrical, The Lion King), Manuel Gonzalez (Animation) as well as others. We’re excited for these influential Disney contributors to join the legendary ranks of other award inductees like Dick Van Dyke, Robin Williams, Jim Henson, and Bob Gurr just to name a few.
Learning About Upcoming Films and Exclusive Sneak Peeks:
Every D23 Expo means that Disney has a treasure cove of announcements up their sleeves, and much of this takes place during the company’s studios panels taking place on Friday (animation) and Saturday (live-action). Here, guests are treated to information about the upcoming films, often with surprises from the cast of crew of said films, and sometimes treated to special exclusive sneak peeks of the films. If previous events are any indication, Disney fans are in for some exciting new announcements.
Learning About What’s Next for The Disney Parks:
Another landmark for the D23 Expo is the famed Walt Disney Parks and Resorts panel, which is famous for making groundbreaking announcements about what’s coming soon to Disney Parks around the world. At the last D23 Expo, Bob Iger broke the news about a Star Wars Land coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disneyland California. What will happen this year is anyone’s guess, but we’re speculating there will be a large focus on the upcoming Toy Story Land and Star Wars Land at Hollywood Studios.
The Walt Disney Archives Stage:
Perhaps what’s most thrilling is that throughout the entire convention, The Walt Disney Archives which has its own hall at the convention will be hosting incredible archival events throughout the three-days. Some of these great events include Walking With Giants: A Virtual Visit to Hyperion Studios, Ludwig Von Drake and Walt Disney’s Wonderful Color Revolution, and The 75th Anniversary of Bambi just to name a few. We can’t wait to see some of the incredible archival footage and focus on these amazing panels throughout the weekend.
The Ultimate Destination for Disney Fans:
The greatest thing about the D23 Expo is that simply and only, it’s a celebration of what makes Disney such a special brand to be a part of and to enjoy. The event helps bring together many fans to an incredible event full of exclusive merchandise, amazing panels and an abundance of fun and memorable moments. D23 is an incredibly special branch of The Walt Disney Company because it does an incredible job at celebrating and preserving the legacy of Disney, and there’s no better way to connect with dozens of other fans and celebrate the magic of Disney than at this wonderful event.
The D23 Expo is full of delightful events, memorable moments and excitement throughout, and we can’t wait to get a chance to experience all of it and learn what Disney has in store this year. Stay tuned to The Mickey Mindset for coverage of the event!
